copper pretzel

Here's a quick look at a DIY piece I made not long ago. It's made from copper wire I found at the hardware store using the same method as the twisted wire rings seen in this post, the shape reminds me of a delicious pretzel! Super easy to do and it makes a nice edition to my growing copper jewellery collection.

candy stripes

My spontaneous sewing ventures seem to turn out quite nicely these days. I've been wanting to do something with this striped cotton for a long time, whether that be upholstery or clothing I just wanted to make use of it somehow. I only had about 1.5m so was originally going to just make a skirt, but upon cutting decided there was enough for a full dress. Turns out my subconscious knows what's up, because it seems there are completely accidental similarities with a dress I've had my eye on for ages now, Josh Goot's Float mini.
It's an extremely summery fabric, which is very unfortunate as Melbourne gets colder by the hour, but I'm quite certain it will get a lot of wear come spring!

perplexed

Inspired by Sharday and Gabby's posts on DIY perspex cuffs, I put some of the magical stuff to work this weekend. The project turned out a success and I can't wait to wear these bad boys out soon!

Wearing with: DIY laser-cut dress, Ebay sunglasses, DIY hose connector choker (sourced from Bunnings Warehouse!) and vintage ring.

HCMC treasures

Thought I would photograph some of the jewellery I brought back from Vietnam recently. Got a little carried away with the mirroring effect as you can see. My favourite piece would have to be the breast plate in the first picture, it's so simple yet can pull an outfit from drab.. to FAB instantly (sorry so cheesy!!). I've never been a big fan of statement jewellery, but Vietnam converted me.
All of the jewellery was from Ho Chi Minh City, some of it came from this cute little store in Vincom shopping centre called Miss Ni (not sure if that's the correct spelling) and some of it from the Ben Thanh markets where there was one tiny stall each for the gold and silver. Desperately wanting to go back to find some more treasure!
