paisley please

I've never, ever been a fan of paisley. But it's been popping up on the runways for a while now (remember Givenchy Resort 13?!) so I set to work finding some wearable / affordable pieces in this tricky print and came across this sick tee and jeans. The trick is to keep your colours to a minimum and try to match or complement a colour found amongst the paisley.

I'm definitely considering more risky retro prints for my wardrobe from now on.

cadillac

I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face all weekend due to my most recent acquisition of this glorious jacket. It was hands down the best thing ever when, after talking myself into the Midnight version of Friend of Mine's Cadillac jacket, I stumbled upon a smaller sized black one (in a 6 - not even a plausible option originally) and miraculously it fit like a dream! I was quite relieved really, considering I have so many black clothes in my wardrobe and I'm not the biggest fan of navy blue and black worn together. Pure silk with leather lapel and pocket trim- this is a ridiculously perfect jacket that will no doubt become my staple dress blazer for many seasons to come.

Also, apologies for the recent absence, life's crazy busy at the moment and it's causing serious blog neglection :(

leather love

I was traipsing around my wardrobe, still thinking about bomber jackets from my last post, and came across this leather one I've had for years. It was a big chunky bomber with a hideous belt and all around frumpy shape when I found it at my favourite op shop in Preston, it wasn't until not long ago that I found this pic on a street style blog of a girl in leather jacket with a curved cutout back and decided to try and replicate it with my manly bomber. I took the sleeves in, chopped the belt off and cut a semi-circle into the back and I think it's a pretty good makeover to be honest. It's still a hard piece to wear everyday so I've tried to put together something with a little of the badass attitude it deserves.. A very short skirt and my new 'Wangs'.
Now I know people are extremely opinionated when it comes to fakes, and I thought long and hard about how I'd feel wearing these phony heels, but when it came down to it I came up with these excuses; I currently am not in the position to afford real Wangs, these are extremely well-made/genuine leather blah blah blah, and I love the style (the Joan) so much that that is what mattered most. It's not like I'm going to go around telling people they're real, because that is totes not cool (totes wang?!) and I would feel like a genuine idiot. So thank you iOffer and the dodgy factory in China that produced these beauties! They will be sexing up lots of outfits for a long time to come :)

what to wear with: tan leather

Asos metal collar necklace / Marc by marc Jacobs bars & bells bag / Alexander Wang emina sandals / Altuzarra outboard chunky knit

So I'm starting a new weekly style post that documents what to wear with tricky items. This week it's tan leather. Not something that I'm particularly fond of, seeing as most things made in tan also come I black as well, and I'm all for black leather! But there is a time and a place for tan (well away from the 70s) that, when done right, will produce some seriously worthy results.

bad sports

Loving the edgy sporty vibe for Ksubi's SS12/13 range. Who would have thought leather could be incorporated into such an athletic collection? Well not me anyway. Eager to get my hands on some that metallic goodness too.

luna

After spending a long time searching for a new bag and mulling over a fake Celine number on iOffer the fashion gods answered my plea with the delicious Life with Bird Luna bag. I couldn't believe my luck, it was on sale and arrived 2 days after I ordered it! Made of the most sumptuous grainy leather, I 'moved in' the second it came and I'm sure I won't be moving out any time soon.

LDN purchases: part one

I almost cried when I found this pleather skirt in H&M! I'd seen it online months ago and cursed H&M for not shipping to Australia, but the shopping gods must have been smiling down on me this day as they had one left and it was in my size!
Also completely obsessed with my new boots from Office London, they were a bit of a splurge but are ridiculously comfy and go perfectly with absolutely everything.

an open bottle

I had the pleasure of being asked by 2threads to do a post on how I'd style the gorgeous Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. Bottle Pendant.
I think when you have such a unique piece of jewellery you need to keep all other details to a minimum, so I've gone with a dainty, sheer maxi skirt paired with the incredible leather cropped top from Ellery with sleeve detail and plain neckline so as not to draw attention from the pendant. Finished off with the Stylestalker jacket which has cute, intricate laser cut-out details on the sleeves and back.
If I had this pendant I would pop a little fresh cut flower (rose or orchid maybe) in every time I wore it. Such a great statement piece, check it out HERE.

new shoooz

My Asos shoezies arrived this morning!! Love waking up to a package on the doorstep!
They are delightfully sweet shoes, a little on the big side (I'm an Aust size 7 and got a UK 6, which has never failed me before), but they kind of gape around the ankles and will definitely need some serious wearing in so they don't rip me to shreds. Still, on the whole I'm very pleased with this purchase!
