paisley please

I've never, ever been a fan of paisley. But it's been popping up on the runways for a while now (remember Givenchy Resort 13?!) so I set to work finding some wearable / affordable pieces in this tricky print and came across this sick tee and jeans. The trick is to keep your colours to a minimum and try to match or complement a colour found amongst the paisley.

I'm definitely considering more risky retro prints for my wardrobe from now on.

pink panther

Here's one of the outfits from a shoot I did the other week with the lovely Gabby.
This dress is seriously killer with its beautiful, vibrant printed silk and draped Tarzan-style skirt. It needs only to be worn with the bare minimum of accessories and a whole lot of attitude.

resorted

Two resort collections that are making me weak at the knees. Those ethereal fish bone slits from Dion Lee are utter genius, and I can safely say that Peter Pilotto has shoved Mary Katrantzou off of the digital printing throne.

My new Sara Phillips dress. What can I say? Possibly the most gorgeous floral print I've ever laid eyes on. Did I mention it is pure silk and cost me a measly $150?! Unfortunately I think it's sold out now, but there are still some incredible bargains to be had at their online store HERE.

marguerite's menagerie

I'm completely obsessed with Hermione de Paula's exotic prints at the moment, they're the ultimate florals on acid. These images are my collages of some shots from the latest collection for AW12 titled Marguerite's Menagerie, photographed by Kristin Vicari and featuring some gorgeous shoes by Nicholas Kirkwood. Some of the most inspiring and original prints I've seen in a long time!

wild horses

This is the dress that arrived from Asos the other day called the Zoe dress which I did a post about HERE, in which I voiced my concern over having to get a medium as all the smalls were sold out. Well, I'm pretty glad they were considering the minuteness of this 'dress'!! It is serious flasher material, and for that matter I'll probably be wearing it with tights in winter to avoid any unwanted body exposure.
Other than the size, I'm totally in love with the greyscale horse print. The scene reminds me of one of my favourite books when I was a child, The Snow Pony, which made me want to become a horse whisperer so I could tame wild brumbies and ride them across picturesque fields.
Hope everyone is enjoying the Easter holidays!

the zoe dress

I'm afraid to say, if you put my name on something, there is a very high possibility that I will purchase it!
Just as I have done here with the amazing Zoe print dresses by Motel. I got the one in the first picture with the horses running around all cute and carefree, pretty hard not to resist this print, with the added bonus it's named after me (well I like to think it is), it has an amazing high cut neck and racer front/back AND it was on sale! Haha, I'm such a sucker.
I'm a little worried it will be too big as Asos only had a size 12 left, but I'm sure I can sew the sides in a bit if worst comes to worst.
If I like this dress, which I imagine I will, I'll most likely end up with several more in my wardrobe as there are some gorgeous prints! I love the poppies and the cityscape, and I already own the skirt in the mountain river print (as seen in a post I did about it HERE!). So the future's looking pretty bleak for my bank account...

LDN purchases: part two

Probably THE funnest piece of clothing I own. I'm not one for tube skirts, but I just had to grab this when I saw it in Topshop as it reminded me of the Austrian alps we drove through on our way across Europe.
Wearing:
Urban Outfitters lace fringed crop bra
Motel skirt
COS metal collar necklace
Murano glass ring from Venice
DIY perspex cuff

back to future basics

Recently I've been on a mission to replicate the beautiful high-cut race-front style necklines seen in Josh Goot's future basic tanks and dresses (which can be viewed HERE).
After making several prototypes (the red being the first, floral second and blue dress third!) I finally settled on a design in the wonderful black and white print silk in the first few pictures. The fabric is gloriously lightweight and breezy, toughened up with the exposed chunky plastic wetsuit-style zip sewn down the back.
Can't wait to wear this out on a hot summer night very soon!
